I am happy to announce the launch of the new website “Yvonne Rainer Performative Exhibition,” which was the reserach-performance project at the Shuju-za Theater last year! Together with reviews and texts, our WS and showings of “Trio A” including Noh version and “Chair/Pillow,” are documented. The epitome of US postmodern dance are gracefully depicted by dancers in Kyoto.

研究プロジェクト「老いを巡るダンスドラマトゥルギー」の一環として、イヴォンヌ・レイナー作品を中心とした資料、映像、当時の舞台、再構成されたパフォーマンス／ワークショップ、レクチャーからなるパフォーマティヴ・エクシビジョンを春秋座の空間で開催します。
これは、春秋座を美術館として用いる、ダンスの継続展示上演という試みです。ポストモダンダンスを辿るアーカイヴは日本の伝統演劇の歴史が生きる祝祭空間、春秋座によって、どのように息を吹き返すでしょうか。

2016年度から17年度にかけて開催する研究プロジェクト「老いを巡るダンスドラマトゥルギー」では、第1回の公開研究会として、2006年以来ダンスにおける「老い」を実験的なテーマとするしてダンス作品を創り続けるレイナーについてのドキュメンタリー映画上映とディスカッションを開催します。

We proudly present the Japan premier of “Feelings Are Facts: The Life of Yvonne Rainer”(Directed by Jack Walsh, 2015) on March 4, 2007 at the Cinema Hall, Kyoto University of Art and Design. This screening will be followed by an open discussion with three panelists, a visual artist and art critic Kenjiro Okazaki, a dance critic and historian Naoko Kogo, and me, for our further exploration, aiming for our reconstruction of Rainer’s early pieces in Kyoto this fall/winter 2017.
