She is a certified traditional Japanese dance\uff08odori\uff09master, a visiting scholar at Tisch School NYU 06. She submitted her Ph.D. dissertation entitled as the Aging Body in Dance at Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin. Since 2011, she had been a Postdoctoral Research Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Saitama University, and a Fellow of the International Research Center \u201cInterweaving Performance Cultures\u201d at Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin. She is a Valeska-Gert Visiting Professor 2019\/20, Freie Universit\u00e4t Berlin. She is currently an associate professor in Dance Studies at Waseda University, Japan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She has worked as a dance dramaturg with NY downtown artists and Nanako\u2019s dramaturgical work with luciana achugar, \u2018Exhausting Love at Danspace Project\u2019, was awarded 06-07 New York Dance and Performance Awards (\u2018The Bessies\u2019). Nanako received 2017&nbsp;Special&nbsp;Commendation&nbsp;of Elliott Hayes Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dramaturgy from the Literary Manager and Dramaturgs of the Americas.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her recent research-dramaturgy projects include &#8220;Dance Archive Boxes @TPAM2016,&#8221; &#8220;Yvonne Rainer Performative Exhibition&#8221; at Kyoto Art Theater Shunju-za 2017\uff08<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nanakonakajima.com\/rainer\/\">http:\/\/www.nanakonakajima.com\/rainer\/<\/a>\uff09, Wang Mengfan\u2019s piece with retired revolutionary ballet dancers at Wuzhen Theatre Festival, China, 2019, &#8220;Dance Archive Box Berlin&#8221; at Akademie der K\u00fcnste Berlin, 2020, &#8220;Noh to Trio A&#8221; at Nagoya Noh Theater, 2021. Nanako received the Special Commendation of the Elliott Hayes Award in 2017 for Outstanding Achievement in Dramaturgy from the Literary Manager and Dramaturgs of the Americas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her contributions and publications include <em>Dance Dramaturgy: Modes of Agency, Awareness and Engagement<\/em> (Palgrave, 2015), <em>The Aging Body in Dance: A Cross-cultural Perspective<\/em> (co-edit. by Gabriele Brandstetter, Routledge, 2017), and <em>Oi to Odori <\/em>(Aging plus Dancing, co-edit. by Kikuko Toyama, Keiso Shobo, 2019.\uff09In 2021, she launched a bilingual website on dance dramaturgy: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dancedramaturgy.org\">www.dancedramaturgy.org<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2022, she invited Mengfan Wang in Beijing for her project in Kyoto and presented the public showing\u300cEncountering Histories\uff0f\u578b\u306e\u5411\u3053\u3046\u3078\u300dtogether with Noh performer at Senshu-Hall. In 2022, she was invited both to a leading international performing arts festival Kyoto Experiment for her screening-lecture series &#8220;Forever Postmodern Dance&#8217; and to Tokyo Festival as mentor for their Farm-Lab Exhibition program. In 2022 Autumn, Nanako was invited to a globally respected arts, cultural and educational institution, Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Canada, as faculty member, and supported the Dance\u3067\u535a\u58eb\u53f7\u3092\u53d6\u5f97\u5f8c\u3001\u65e5\u672c\u5b66\u8853\u632f\u8208\u4f1a\u7279\u5225\u7814\u7a76\u54e1\uff08PD\uff09\u3068\u3057\u3066\u57fc\u7389\u5927\u5b66\u306b\u8d74\u4efb\u3001\u30d9\u30eb\u30ea\u30f3\u81ea\u7531\u5927\u5b66\u56fd\u969b\u30d1\u30d5\u30a9\u30fc\u30de\u30f3\u30b9\u7814\u7a76\u30bb\u30f3\u30bf\u30fcInterweaving Performane Cultures\u30ea\u30b5\u30fc\u30c1\u30fb\u30d5\u30a7\u30ed\u30fc\u3092\u7d4c\u3066\u3001\u5404\u5730\u306e\u5927\u5b66\u3067\u6559\u97ad\u3092\u3068\u308a\u306a\u304c\u3089\u30c9\u30e9\u30de\u30c8\u30a5\u30eb\u30af\u3068\u3057\u3066\u56fd\u5185\u5916\u3067\u6d3b\u8e8d\u3059\u308b\u3002\u30cb\u30e5\u30fc\u30e8\u30fc\u30af\u30c0\u30a6\u30f3\u30bf\u30a6\u30f3\u30c0\u30f3\u30b9\u306e\u632f\u4ed8\u5bb6\u30eb\u30c1\u30a2\u30ca\u30fb\u30a2\u30fc\u30ae\u30e5\u30e9\u30fc\u3068\u306e\u4f5c\u54c1 Exhausting Love at Danspace Project \u306f2006\uff0f07\u5e74\u30cb\u30e5\u30fc\u30e8\u30fc\u30af\u30fb\u30d9\u30c3\u30b7\u30fc\u8cde\u3092\u53d7\u8cde\u30012017\u5e74\u306b\u306f\u30a2\u30e1\u30ea\u30ab\u30c9\u30e9\u30de\u30c8\u30a5\u30eb\u30af\u5354\u4f1a\u304b\u3089\u30a8\u30ea\u30aa\u30c3\u30c8\u30d8\u30a4\u30ba\u8cde\u7279\u5225\u8cde\u3092\u53d7\u3051\u308b\u3002\u65e5\u672c\u821e\u8e0a\u5b97\u5bb6\u85e4\u9593\u6d41\u5e2b\u7bc4\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u8001\u3044\u3068\u8e0a\u308a\u306e\u7814\u7a76\u3092\u5b9f\u8df5\u3068\u4e26\u884c\u3057\u3066\u9032\u3081\u3001\u8fd1\u5e74\u306e\u30d7\u30ed\u30b8\u30a7\u30af\u30c8\u306b\u300c\u30a4\u30f4\u30a9\u30f3\u30cc\u30fb\u30ec\u30a4\u30ca\u30fc\u3092\u5de1\u308b\u30d1\u30d5\u30a9\u30fc\u30de\u30c6\u30a3\u30f4\u30fb\u30a8\u30af\u30b7\u30d3\u30b8\u30e7\u30f3\u300d\uff08\u4eac\u90fd\u82b8\u8853\u5287\u5834\u6625\u79cb\u5ea7\u30012017\u3001\u5831\u544a\u30b5\u30a4\u30c8<a Routledge, \u4eac\u90fd\u56fd\u969b\u821e\u53f0\u82b8\u8853\u796d\u3067\u300c\u30d5\u30a9\u30fc\u30a8\u30d0\u30fc\u30dd\u30b9\u30c8\u30e2\u30c0\u30f3\u30c0\u30f3\u30b9\u300d\u30b9\u30af\u30ea\u30fc\u30cb\u30f3\u30b0\u30ec\u30af\u30c1\u30e3\u30fc\u3092\u958b\u50ac\u3057\u3001\u6771\u4eac\u82b8\u8853\u796d\u3067\u306f Farm-Lab Exhibiton
